Project Billboard artworks on sale

Artworks created on the banks of the Maitai River during this year’s Nelson Arts Festival are now up for sale on Trade Me.

The Billboard Project saw local artists Geoff Noble, Miriam Hansen and Smeagol, NMIT Kāwai Raupapa Rauangi (Māori Visual Art) students and North Island artists Richard Adams and Sofia Minson creating works in tune with the theme Aromahana, or spring warmth.

“The works created are incredible pieces of art and amazing reminders of a fantastic festival,” says Festivals Team Leader Axel de Maupeou.

“The Billboard Project not only excited and interested the passing crowds, but brought together artists who normally work in solitude and gave them the opportunity to learn from each other and develop their ideas.”

The artworks for sale can be viewed at Red Gallery in central Nelson, and purchased online via Trade Me: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=5665569

Proceeds will go back to the artists and to the Festival to cover costs. The project was made possible with the assistance of NZ Artists Magazine and Liquitex Paints.
