Dyers Pass Rd - Road works coming soon- allow extra travelling time

• From the week starting Monday 9 November repairs on retaining walls on Dyers Pass Rd will start and take about 10 weeks.

• A lane will be closed and two-way traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic lights.

• One retaining wall repair is just south of the Sign of the Kiwi on the Governors Bay side.

• The second is on the city-side of Dyers Pass Rd near Victoria Park Rd.

Shirley Rd – Short detour for 3 months

From Friday 6 November a section of Shirley Rd will have roadworks.

Commuters travelling eastwards towards The Palms shopping centre will be detoured through Emmett St, Orontes St and Quinns Rd back onto Shirley Rd.

Wainoni-Breezes

• Works at the intersection of Wainoni Rd and Breezes Rd are planned to start on Monday 9 November.

• Wainoni Rd will be one-way eastbound towards New Brighton for about 3 weeks between Breezes Rd and Portsmouth St. Breezes Rd will be one-way northbound between Hampshire St and Wainoni Rd for about 3 weeks. Commuters will not be able to turn from Wainoni Rd into Breezes Rd.

Westfield Riccarton Mall Shoppers

The left-turning lane on Dilworth St (behind the mall) into Clarence Street will be reduced in length for works for about 2 weeks but traffic can still turn left into Clarence St.

Progress Report

• Repairs to the earthquake-damaged sections of Carlton Mill Bridge, at the intersection of Harper Ave, Park Tce and Carlton Mill Rd, have been completed. The work took 3 weeks. Two-way traffic was maintained during this time. SCIRT delivery team McConnell Dowell would like to thank the commuters, pedestrians and cyclists for their patience.

Main Roads – Works underway so expect delays during peak times and consider other routes

• Barbadoes St will be one-way southbound from Tuesday 27 October between Bealey Ave and Canon St for about 8 weeks. Suggested detour for northbound traffic is Madras St.

• Papanui Rd near the Bealey Ave intersection, the sectionbetween Clare Rd and Derby St, will have two-way traffic maintained and has bus lane and cycle lane closures from Tuesday 27 October. The restrictions last for about 6 weeks. Please take care around merging cyclists.

• Marshland Rd between The Palms and 123 Marshland Rd has road repairs until the end of November. Two-way traffic is maintained. Reduced lanes may cause delays.

• Ferry Rd has works between Smith St and Tilford St until about the end of November. Two-way traffic is maintained and there are temporary lane shifts and shoulder closures.

• Ferry Rd also has works from Ensors Rd to Osborne St and in front of Manning Pl with limited entry/exit inot Manning Pl. Expect delays at peak times.

Fitzgerald Ave has reduced lanes southbound between St Asaph St and Ferry Rd for the next 2 weeks.

• Manchester St is one-way southbound between Hereford St and Lichfield St.

• Moorhouse Ave Bridge is down to one lane each side.

Fendalton - major wastewater works are underway in Holmwood Rd and Garden Rd.

• Holmwood Rd will close from Tuesday 27 October for 3 weeks for reconnection of individual properties’ lateral pipes to a new main wastewater pipe.

• Garden Rd will close from Tuesday 27 October for about 20 weeks for wastewater repairs. The repairs are in 3 stages of about 6 weeks each.

Aranui/Wainoni

• Merrington Cres is one-way (towards Marlow Rd).

• Marlow Rd remains one-way from Doreen St to Pages Rd.

• Yarmouth St has a progressive road closure in place, from Soberton St to property 30 Yarmouth St for about 7 weeks.

• Orrick Cres is one-way between Wainoni Rd to Cowes St, for northbound traffic, starting 2 November for 5 weeks.

• Portsmouth St’s current road closure between Basingstoke St and Wainoni Rd will remain in place until the road can be sealed. From Thursday 29 October there will be works in the intersection of Portsmouth St and Wainoni Rd for about 2 weeks. Two-way traffic on Wainoni Rd will be maintained.

• Carisbrooke St is one-way between Winchfield St and the end of the cul-de-sac for about 3 weeks.

• Hampshire St will have a progressive road closure between properties 99-122 starting Monday 2 November for 4 weeks.

• The one way on Pages Rd will extend from Anzac Dr to Breezes Rd from Monday 2 November.

The Yellow bus detour is now along Marlow Rd but please visit the Metro website www.metroinfo.org.nz or phone Metro Info on 366 8855 for any bus service changes.

Beach Rd, New Brighton – major wastewater works underway

• Beach Rd has a progressive road closure. The crew will be sealing the road outside the shops at Bower Ave and will then progress for 3 months towards Effingham St.

• Today work started in the Beach Rd/Bower Ave roundabout. Temporary traffic lights are in place for about a week.

• On Monday 9 November the Beach Rd and Bower Ave intersection will be closed to all traffic for about a week. The closure along Beach Road between Frosts Rd and Ascot Ave will progress over 9 months. Please look out for changes and detours.

Work in other suburbs

Redcliffs

• Moncks Spur has temporary traffic lights at the start of the worksite to minimise disruption and maintain two-way traffic.

• Glenstrae Rd has retaining wall repairs for about 5 months. Two-way traffic will be maintained from numbers 15 to 35 at the second uphill hairpin bend using temporary traffic lights.

Mt Pleasant

• A section on lower Mt Pleasant Rd (between Seamount Tce and Billys Track) is now one-way to downhill traffic only. Detour via Major Hornbrook Rd or Soleares Ave.

Cashmere

• Kidson Terrace will be one-way heading north from Monday 2 November for about 4 months.

Parklands

• Pegasus Ave is closed between Philomel St and Endeavour St for road renewal.

• Ascot Dr is closed between properties 9-37 from next week.

• Lamorna Rd has a progressive road closure for about 7 more weeks between Queenspark Dr and Foresters Cres.

• Forrest Dr has a progressive road closure between 23 Forrest Dr and Broadhaven Ave for 5 more weeks.

• Queenspark Dr will have a road closure from Wednesday 4 November between 201 and Chadlington St for about 2 weeks.

Burwood

• New Brighton Rd between Lake Terrace Rd and 221 New Brighton Rd is one lane with temporary traffic lights to maintain two-way traffic flow. Stop/go traffic management is in place at peak times.

• New Brighton Rd - Lake Terrace Rd intersection is closed. Access is via Burwood Rd.

Edgeware / St Albans

• Edgeware Rd between Sherborne St and Madras St is one-way eastbound for about 3 months. There’s a short detour to the local Edgeware - St Albans businesses affected by these works.

• Bishop St is one-way for southbound traffic between Edgeware Rd and Canon St from mid-October for about 2 months. Suggested detour is Madras St.

Merivale

• Helmores Lane Bridge is closed. Repairs are being redesigned due to more damage being found.

Shirley

• Hills Rd (between Guild St and Dudley St) is one-way northbound. Southbound traffic please slow down along the detour, and heavy traffic please take a different route.

• Dudley St is closed from Slater St to Hills Rd.

• Stapletons Rd will be one-way northbound from Monday 2 November for 3 weeks. After this it will be closed until early February 2016.

Linwood

• Worcester St is closed between Woodham Rd and Dacre St, and is one-way southbound towards Linwood Ave between Dacre St and Linwood Ave.

• Woodham Rd is one-way city bound between Kerrs Rd and Gloucester St. Eastbound traffic please follow the detour.

Woolston

• Smith St has a progressive road closure until early 2016.

Addington

• Selwyn St between Ruskin St and Poulson St and between Harman St and Hazeldean Ave is one-way northbound towards Moorhouse Ave for about a week.

• Stuart Mill St will have no right turn from Moorhouse Ave for about 10 days.
