Safe City Ambassadors contract awarded

HUTT CITY COUNCIL NEWS RELEASE

26 November 2015

Safe City Ambassadors contract awarded

Lower Hutt residents will notice new-look Safe City Ambassadors from next week, after the contract was awarded to Recon Security.

The new ambassadors will continue to patrol the streets of Lower Hutt from Thursdayafternoons through to Sunday mornings, to help keep our city a safe place for everyone to enjoy.

Staff will be wearing high-visibility uniforms and carry identification at all times. All ambassadors are trained in first-aid and are experts in conflict resolution.

City Safety Manager Jimmy Ballantyne says the Safe City Ambassadors “do a fantastic job in the community to help keep residents safe and Recon Security were chosen for their skills and experience in this important area.”

The Safe City Ambassador programme is one of many community safety initiatives led by Council. The programme complements a New Zealand Police partnership, CCTV, community patrol, graffiti eradication and neighbourhood support.
