Social media reach grows

The Taranaki Regional Council’s Facebook pages has picked up 1100 ‘likes’ since its launch in April, putting it ahead of counterparts in Northland, Hawke’s Bay, Otago and Southland, the Committee was told. Engagement rates are among the top three of any regional council in NZ, with the most popular recent post seen by 6900 people.

Quarterly scorecard introduced

The first of what will be a regular series of Quarterly Operational Reports was presented to the Committee, detailing progress against work plans and budgets adopted in the Council’s 2015/16 Annual Plan. The first report covers the July-September quarter and shows good progress is being made, with no particular areas of concern. The new reports supersede the Council’s previous Significant Activity Annual Reports and offer more regular and up-to-date snapshot of progress. See www.trc.govt.nz/quarterly-operational-reports/

Fare move encourages smart thinking

All cash fares and concession and child smartcard fares will increase for New Plymouth Citylink bus users from 1 February, but adult smartcard fares will remain unchanged under a plan approved by the Committee. The rise of 20c a trip in cash fares is expected to result in more adults using smartcards, bringing operational and financial efficiencies. Concession and child smartcard fares will rise by 5c to 10c a trip. This is the first fare increase in three years.

Yarrow Stadium ambitions charted

A quality facility that’s of real value to the community, sports codes and event organisers – that’s the vision for Yarrow Stadium under a new strategic plan adopted by the Committee today. Developed in conjunction with a new asset management plan, the strategy will also go to the stadium operator, the New Plymouth District Council, for adoption before being implemented by the TRC-controlled Yarrow Stadium Trust, which owns the facility.
