Refurbished Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House reopens
One of the city's iconic hospitality locations – the Bealey's Speights Ale House – has fully reopened after months of post-earthquake repairs and enhancements.
The Christchurch city bar and restaurant has undergone significant earthquake repairs and renovations while renewing its pub charm.
It has been a part of the Christchurch hospitality scene since opening in 2005 and was the busiest bar in the region immediately following the earthquakes.
The $2 million redevelopment project was a complete refit including a new bar, updated furniture, internal renovation, new commercial kitchen and refreshed branding.
The multi-million dollar redevelopment has been hugely rewarding for all those involved said owner, Max Bremner.
“I’m extremely proud of the environment we have created for the Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House,” said Bremner.
“While we committed to completing earthquake repairs, we also invested heavily and spared no expense. The results are incredible.
“The team involved have successfully created a modern, fresh perspective for the Ale House while remaining true to relaxed appeal it is renowned for.“
“The bar looks great and is a testament to the vision the design and construction team have put in over the last few months.
Manager Sam Kumbaroff said the newly opened bar and restaurant is a place where locals will be proud to bring visitors.
“Demand is high in Christchurch for good quality pubs and restaurants and we’re looking forward to providing locals and visitors with our famous southern hospitality.
“The new Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House boasts a bright and open area with plenty of space to savour some quality food, drink and banter with friends,” said Kumbaroff.
The new Bealey’s Speight’s Ale House includes quality function and event rooms as well as private areas. It has capacity to host over 250 guests inside and in the three outside areas while also having a 130 seat restaurant.
It is open seven days from 6.30am.
