Tickets Selling for Not-To-Be-Missed Equestrian Spectacular

Tickets Selling for Not-To-Be-Missed Equestrian Spectacular

Tickets are marching out the door to February’s Riding With The Stars – the event that promises to revolutionise equestrian entertainment in New Zealand.

It’s a star-studded line-up featuring some of the best from both sides of the Tasman going head-to-head in showjumping and dressage at the Claudelands Arena in Hamilton . . . and there is $16,000 on the line.

The glitzy, glam shows run over two nights – Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13 – with tickets on sale through www.ticketek.co.nz – and feature a light and sound show spectacular choreographed to the equestrian action, all right in the heart of Hamilton.

Friday is competition night with a two round 1.6m world cup-style grand prix for the showjumpers. The second against the clock round will push these top combinations to their limits over the Gerrit Beker-designed course.

The Aussies are sending some of their best, including three-time Olympian Vicki Roycroft, the very accomplished Clem Smith and the talented James Arkins. But they will get the battle they rightly deserve from a stellar Kiwi crew including Olympians and World Cup finalists Katie Laurie and Maurice Beatson, international Helen McNaught-McFarlane, young gun Logan Massie, sisters Vicki and Amanda Wilson and Jaime Campbell.

This will be the only opportunity to see Roycroft and Smith in New Zealand.

The freestyle to music dressage will entrance all. Some of Australasia’s top combinations are heading to Riding With The Stars. Keen to keep all the prize money on this side of the Tasman will be John Thompson, who has his eye on the Rio Olympics aboard Antonello, the entertaining Jody Hartstone with her Lusitano stallion Ali Baba and one of Australia’s best in Caroline Wagner and Tango V.

Saturday night features the talented and sassy Wilson sisters and their Keeping up with the Kaimanawas Show live to Claudelands Arena.

They will replicate the excitement and intrigue of their very popular television series in a specially choreographed performance adapted to the live show.

This trio of Northland sisters are applauded internationally for their efforts to save the Kaimanawa horses, but also for their incredible talent.

Riding With The Stars will light up Claudelands Arena in more ways than one – organisers are also blending the daring bravery of the showjumpers with the magical talents of the dressage combinations with a special effects lighting show.

“This is real edge-of-your-seat equestrian entertainment as this country has never seen before,” says event director Andrew Hansen. “This will set the bar for entertainment for the future.”
