SCIRT traffic update: Week starting Monday, 25 January 2016

Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team (SCIRT) is ramping up its work for 2016 and at times that will impact on local businesses. Please go out of your way to support them

Woodham Rd - Gloucester St intersection, restrictions for about 4 months
Please support your local businesses that are currently affected by this work.
• Wastewater repairs mean lane reductions and turning restrictions at the Woodham Rd - Gloucester St intersection.
• Temporary lights are in place to help traffic flow.

Hills Rd, Shirley, reduced lanes
• From Monday 25 January SCIRT is working on Hills Rd between Warden St and Shirley Rd for about 3 months repairing damaged storm water, roads, footpaths and kerb and channels.
• Two-way traffic will be maintained. Bus and cycle lanes will be closed to make room for the worksite. Please take care around merging cyclists.
• Hills Rd, between Guild St and Dudley St, is one-way northbound.


Strickland St, Sydenham
Strickland St, between Milton St and Boon St, will be one-way heading north for 2 days in the week starting Monday 25 January.

Bower Ave, Burwood

• From Monday 25 January has a road closure between Queenspark Drive and Rue de la Mare while wastewater renewal work is underway near the intersection of Queenspark Dr and Bower Ave.
• Temporary traffic lights will maintain access to and from Queenspark Dr from the southern side of the Bower Ave intersection.
• Queenspark Dr will be one-way for westbound traffic only, between Donnington St and Cottonwood St, for about 3 weeks from Monday 25 January.

Fendalton Rd
Please watch for lane shifts while storm water repairs are carried out between Deans Ave and Holmwood Rd.

Burlington St, Sydenham, is closed to traffic going south between Brougham St and Colombo St for wastewater repairs.

Beach Rd, New Brighton – progressive road closure where major wastewater works are underway
• A SCIRT crew continues wastewater renewal work along Beach Rd from Ascot Ave to 144 Beach Rd for another 5 months. A progressive road closure will be in place around the immediate work area.
• A second crew continues on Beach Rd between Effingham St and Bower Ave for about 2 more weeks. Currently a road closure is in place between property numbers 149 and 101.
• This week a temporary road closure is in place while sheet piles are installed in preparation for the lift station installation.
• A one-way system will be in place from Monday 25 January, between Bower Ave and Pinewood Ave, for traffic heading westbound only. This will be in place for the duration of the installation work.
• Parking outside the Beach Road businesses (the Naked Baker, Beach Road Fish Supply and North Beach Dairy) will be maintained. Please continue to support the local businesses.

Beach Rd, storm water and partial road rebuild
• Beach Rd between Bower Ave and 117 Beach Rd is closed for storm water, road, footpath and kerb and channel repairs. The work is being carried out alongside waste water repair work in the same section of Beach Rd.
• The road renewal is expected to take about 3 months.

Ferry Rd, Woolston
Has storm water repairs between Hopkins St and Dampier St. Two-way traffic is maintained but there may be delays.

Bealey Ave, between Madras St and Packe St, has reduced lanes for wastewater repairs for about 2 months. Please look out for cyclists.

Avonside Drive between Fitzgerald Ave and Stanmore Rd is one-way going west towards the city for road and kerb repairs. Traffic travelling east is being detoured into Stanmore Rd and Gloucester St.

Marine Parade
A progressive one-way system is in place between Beach Rd and Pacific rd for southbound traffic for about 2 months for road renewal.

Moorhouse Ave overbridge is reduced to one lane each way for the duration of the repair project.

Worcester St, Linwood
Worcester St is closed between Woodham Rd and Dacre St with limited access to residents only.
• Worcester St remains one-way southbound between Wyon St and Linwood Ave for major wastewater repairs.

New Brighton Rd, Burwood
Between Bassett St and Anzac Drive, is closed for installation of two wastewater pressure mains which is a 5 month project.

Shirley Rd – Short detour
Traffic going eastwards towards The Palms shopping centre is being detoured, because of wastewater repairs, through Emmett St, Orontes St and Quinns Rd back onto Shirley Rd.

Aranui/Wainoni
Please take extra care around this busy area as SCIRT installs a new resilient vacuum wastewater system for this community. See the Aranui map for road closures, bus routes and detours.
Dudley Street, Shirley, between Hills Rd and Slater St, has a road closure from 12 January for about 2 months for renewal of the road surface.
