Special limited event gifts for Rotorua swim series

ROTORUA, 29 January 2016:

Participants who commit to competing in three of the four Famously Rotorua swim series events which start tomorrow, and swim more than 11.5 kms, will get themselves a special edition event pack comprising a free towel, bottle and swim cap.

The first of the series takes place on Rotorua’s idyllic Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake) tomorrow with the Ecomist-sponsored 2km or 750m open water swim starting at 5pm.

This is an event suitable for first timers and beginners through to experienced swimmers, said event manager Martin Croft. People can register on the day at the lake itself. See details.

The three other events in the Rotorua swim series, now into its third year, are on Lake Rotoma on Waitangi Day, February 28 back at Blue Lake with the Legend of the Lake and the final event on Lake Okataina on March 13.

If participants take part in 3 or more of the events in the series, they will receive an event series bottle and cap. Or, if you think you can swim 11.5kms across the event series then you will receive a special edition event embroidered towel, plus the title of the ultimate series superstar.
The Rotorua Lakes Council are proud supporters of all of the events in the Famously Rotorua Swim the Lakes Series and are equally delighted to have the NZ Ocean Series Legend of the Lake event added to the series this year.

Croft says that having the addition of the New Zealand Ocean Swim Series event helps raise awareness of the range of swimming options available in Rotorua’s lakes and promotes the benefits of a healthy and fit lifestyle.

“This series aims to encourage both locals and visitors to get out and enjoy the range of activities available to them in a fun, well-organised, family friendly environment,” he said.

“Rotorua is rapidly becoming the place for swimmers to come and test themselves in much the same way cyclists and triathletes have in the past.”
