Myer’s Park Medley – Auckland’s newest festival

26 February 2016

Myer’s Park Medley – Auckland’s newest festival

Myer’s Park Medley celebrates the uniqueness of Myer’s Park and surrounding communities. After the success of the park’s centenary celebration in March 2015 Waitematā Local Board saw that it was important to create an annual event for the area.

“Events such as the Myers Park Medley help communities connect and grow stronger. We are proud to facilitate such events and we have made this happen with support of local business, friends of Myers Park and Auckland Council’s Music In Parks series,” says Shale Chambers, Chair of Waitematā Local Board.

“The board is passionate about supporting local community, and Myers Park Medley is designed both to entertain and provide an outlet for local artists. It is a family friendly, accessible, zero waste, day of free inner-city entertainment”

In this, its inaugural year the Myers Park Medley team is working in partnership with Auckland Council’s Music In Parks series, which brings to the main stage local favourites Surrey Boudit, Coco Davis, Life Underwater and Tami Neilson.

“Sunday’s celebrations will showcase what a great asset Myers Park is for the inner-city. Facilities like the new playground, upcoming installation of a splash pad and refurbishment of the bridge underpass, show just how exciting the future of Myers Park looks.”
