Special convoy for worthy kids to celebrate Children’s Day
Special convoy for worthy kids to celebrate Children’s Day
Twenty-five children and their families from three charities will celebrate Children’s Day in style on March 6 with a special VIP experience.
The annual Corporate Cabs Auckland Airport Kids’ Fun Day will see children from Kidney Kids, Cure Kids and Kidz First and their families travel in a Corporate Cabs convoy to Auckland Airport, where they will be treated to a series of fun events.
The drivers will collect the children and their families from all over Auckland and drive them in comfort to Auckland Museum to be entertained by Basil the Dinosaur. They will then head in convoy to Auckland Airport, where one of the highlights will be watching the airport’s emergency services team manage a simulated fire.
First organised by Corporate Cabs owner/drivers in 2013, the Corporate Cabs Auckland Airport Kids’ Fun Day has become an annual event in partnership with Auckland Airport.
Event organizer, John Davies, says the event is the highlight of their year, with each driver involved in the planning to ensure they provide the best day possible for the children and their families.
“We think this is a wonderful way to celebrate Children’s Day and give deserving kids and their families a really memorable day together. These children are so brave and are facing so much, so to be able to make this day special for them means a lot to us all.”
The
Corporate Cabs owner/drivers and other volunteers are
collectively donating 150 hours of time to the event. In
addition, David Doherty Corporate Apparel are supplying caps
to protect the kids from the sun, Mars New Zealand some
chocolate treats, and Water for Everyone is keeping everyone
hydrated.
Auckland Airport’s General Manager of People
and Safety, Anna Cassels-Brown, says the fun day is a
highlight in the airport’s calendar.
“This is such an amazing event and we’re really excited to be able to support it by hosting these kids and their families on this special day. Our staff love being involved, and it’s great to bring in our business partners too, like the Life Education Trust and New Zealand Customs. Everyone pulls together to give the kids and their families a VIP experience they won’t forget,” she says.
The children were nominated by the three organisations, which all work to make children’s lives better.
