One million people visit Toitu OSM
Dunedin (Thursday, 10 March 2016) – Toitū Otago Settlers Museum celebrated a major visitor milestone this afternoon.
Museum Director Jennifer Evans says Kedron Parker of Wellington was the Museum’s 1,000,000th visitor since the significantly redeveloped facility opened in December 2012.
“Kedron attended a conference here a few years ago and was keen to bring her boys back to the Museum. It’s great she was able to be here with her family and be part of such a special occasion for the Museum.”
Ms Parker was presented with a bottle of wine, chocolates, a free year’s membership to the Otago Settlers Association and a book about the history of the Association.
Ms Evans says, “I think it’s fantastic so many people choose to visit Toitū Otago Settlers Museum out of all the attractions in Dunedin. It’s especially gratifying to see so many people, including Kedron, making repeat visits as it takes more than one visit to absorb all the stories and see all the objects we have on display.”
The Museum was particularly busy today with visitors from the cruise ship Explorer of the Seas and so reached its 1,000,000th visitor sooner than expected.
