Work started on town clock

Work started on town clock

Scaffolding has been put up and work began for the spruce-up of the town clock yesterday.

The clock will be out of action and no parking available on either side from Monday until Thursday 24 March.

The makeover includes a new paint job in traditional heritage colours and a mechanical upgrade to the clock itself.

The mechanical upgrade will take about three weeks, so the clock faces won't be telling the right time.

“If the weather’s kind, the paint job should be all done in time for Easter weekend,” says team leader for community and recreation facilities, Garrett Blair.

“We thank people for cooperation with the traffic restrictions and specially business owners in the block during the upgrade.

“We think it’s going to look awesome and it will finally be telling the right time on all sides when it’s finished.”
