Rotorua Eastern Arterial designation
lifted
Rotorua mayor Steve Chadwick has today welcomed
the announcement from NZ Transport Agency that they will not
be constructing the Rotorua Eastern Arterial and that the
designation in place since 1963 can be lifted.
“This will provide greater certainty as to how the land can be used in the future.
“Our council needs to formally lift the designation so we will be taking this to our Strategy, Policy and Finance committee meeting on April 21 for a decision.
“We’re also aware that the lifting of this designation will require NZ Transport Agency and Rotorua Lakes Council to continue to work together to ensure that the appropriate investment is made as required for future proofing of the Te Ngae Corridor and to assure our community that Rotorua’s long term growth aspirations will not be constrained by transport capacity limitations.”
