Time to have your say on Council's plans
Time to have your say on Council's plans
Christchurch City Council today launches a five-week campaign to get public feedback on its plans for the next decade.
Consultation is now open on the Council's draft Annual Plan 2016-17 and Amended Long Term Plan 2015-2025 - the documents that set out the Council's work programme and spending plans for coming years.
Mayor Lianne Dalziel says it is important residents take the opportunity share their thoughts and ideas during the public consultation period, which ends at 5pm on Tuesday 10 May.
“We're proposing that by being realistic about the timing of major projects and making operational savings we can cap the planned rates increase at 5 per cent, without needing to release any additional capital in 2016-17.
"We need to know what Christchurch thinks about this proposal and the spending priorities councillors have identified."
Residents can give feedback in new ways this year, says Mayor Lianne Dalziel.
“We’ve tried to make it really easy to make a submission so you can do it online, through a Facebook survey or put pen to paper. Community boards and councillors are hosting events across the city over the coming weeks so residents can talk through the issues with us face-to-face, and we also welcome tweets or discussion via comments on the Council’s Facebook page.”
Councillors will consider all submissions and comments before they adopt the plan in June 2016.
How to have your say:
Giving your feedback is easy, here are some ways you can join the conversation:
• You can fill out an online submission form or drop into any Council library or service centre and fill out a submission form there.
• You can email your feedback to ccc-plan@ccc.govt.nz or use social media to have your say.
• There is a survey on the Council's Facebook page where you can give your feedback or you can use Twitter and tweet your comments using #cccplan.
• Throughout April, the Council's Community Boards will be running a series of Have Your Say events where you can come along and speak to your local elected members about what you like and what you don't like. You need to register for these Have Your Say events, either by calling 941-8999 (0800 800-169 for Banks Peninsula callers) or by emailing ccc-plan@ccc.govt.nz.
• In the first week of May there will also be two opportunities to come along and talk with City Councillors about what you think of the plan. The first opportunity will be at the Civic Offices, in Hereford St, on Monday, 2 May, from 9am to noon. The second opportunity will be at the same location but from 1 to 4pm on Friday, 6 May. No registration is required to attend either of these two citywide feedback events.
