Community Board to Discuss Turning-Off of WIFI

Community Board to Discuss Turning-Off of WIFI at Thursday Meeting

The Waimarino-Waiouru Community Board (WWCB) will consider a report on the turning-off of the free WIFI at the Raetihi Library afterhours at their meeting this Thursday (5 May 16).

Following discussions with the Police it was recommended that Council switched the WIFI off afterhours in an attempt to reduced vandalism and other anti-social behaviour around the town at night.

WWCB Chairperson John Compton said that the Police have been invited to attend the meeting and the public are also most welcome.

“Any members of the public who wish to speak about this issue can do so at the beginning of the meeting during the public forum section.”

This is a community issue and it will require a concerted whole of community response to resolve,” he said.

“Any timing about when the WIFI might be switched on again full time will be the decision of the WWCB in conjunction with the Council, the community and the Police.”

“I would encourage any local residents who feel they can help contribute to resolving these issues in a positive way to come along to the meeting and have their say.”

“The WWCB meet this Thursday (5 May 16) in the Council Chamber, Ayr St, Ohakune stating at 6.00pm.”

“All welcome.”
