Relax and take an online tour of our maternity services

A new initiative means expectant parents can now relax at home while taking an online tour of Capital & Coast District Health Board’s birthing facilities.

The online tour makes it easier for patients and their families to see the birthing rooms and postnatal options available at Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru Hospital and Kapiti Health Centre.

Associate director of midwifery Carolyn Coles said the online tour responded to a need of expectant parents.

“With traditional physical tours of facilities time often has to be taken off work to attend. If the birthing rooms are full at the time of the tour, or there is an emergency occurring, then expectant parents, may not be able see all the areas they want to.

“With the new online tour women are guaranteed to get a great tour.”

“It also means parents can view the facilities as many times as they want, rather than visiting just once before they give birth.

“When parents come to birth their baby we want them to feel comfortable with the choices they have made,” Ms Coles said.
