Te Awamutu Club wins award
Te Awamutu Rugby Sports And Recreation Club Inc. Score Supreme Award
The Te Awamutu Rugby Sports and Recreation Club Inc. has won the Supreme Award at the 2016 Trustpower Waipa District Community Awards.
The Awards were announced and presented tonight (Monday, 9 May) at a function at Te Awamutu College.
For winning the Supreme Award, the Te Awamutu Rugby Sports and Recreation Club Inc. received a framed certificate, a trophy and $1,500 prize money. The Te Awamutu Rugby Sports and Recreation Club now has the opportunity to represent the district at the 2016 Trustpower National Community Awards, which are being held in Rotorua in March 2017.
In total, Trustpower has given away over $5,000 to various community groups through tonight’s Awards.
Trustpower Community Relations Representative Emily Beaton says the Te Awamutu Rugby Sports and Recreation Club Inc. have done a superb job at utilising a simple business model to create an outstanding hub for the community, offering something for everyone.
“Without the valuable work of the volunteers, this club would not be able to exist. Volunteers work behind the scenes and get stuck in at the coal face, taking shape as coaches, referees, managers, board members, code committee members, ground maintenance, administration, helping with working bees, stocktakes and fundraising.
It is no surprise that they are making such a huge difference in the community when they have ten sporting and recreational entities under their management.
The judging panel knew that these guys had a good story to tell, and we can’t wait to see them represent the Waipa District on a National stage,” says Miss Beaton.
The competition for this year’s Trustpower Waipa District Community Awards was strong with forty one groups entered for the Awards.
