Chamber congratulates CentrePort on car deal

A deal that sees new Toyota cars destined for the central North Island shipped through CentrePort instead of Auckland is a win-win for all concerned, says Wellington Chamber Chief Executive John Milford.

“CentrePort is to be congratulated for cutting this deal with Toyota NZ.

“This is about business thinking pragmatically.

“Bringing 200 cars a month through CentrePort instead of by road via Auckland is cutting five days off delivery times to central North Island centres, and it’s obviously environmentally beneficial as well.

“It represents a 15 per cent increase in vehicles through the port, which is great for business – better through CentrePort than Auckland.”
