Food for thought and feed the mind in Kapiti

New Zealand’s largest and tastiest culinary festival will once again be at your service over 17 days from 12-28 August 2016. The eighth year of Visa Wellington on a Plate (VWOAP) has launched with the biggest and most exciting food festival that will offer flavours, experiences and moments that are not the usual. VWOAP has a mission to feed appetite for life with all the Wellington region has to offer.

Jeanine van Kradenburg of PartyPerfect Catering and Helene Judge of Kapiti Business Projects attended the official launch of VWOAP on Wednesday 1 June at Shed 6 on Queen’s Wharf. It was a special evening crammed with everybody who’s anybody in the food world along with abundant and delicious food and drink creations to try.

Jeanine and Helene are well known in the Kapiti District for running interesting food related events in addition to being co-owners of the Kapiti Food Fair, an annual showcase of New Zealand produced food and beverage, related products and the united nations of ready to eat foods. Both have been actively involved with running VWOAP events in Kapiti since inception of the Festival so they have a deep understanding of their mission to feed the appetite for life by bringing people together to share different, inspiring and provocative culinary experiences.

One long lunch for maximum 80 guests to enjoy an experience themed around, hunters, bakers, fishers, farmers: the best Kapiti can offer on a plate to feed the mind and body. You will hear from local enthusiasts about meat and fish varieties, cuts, quality, availability, preparation, hunting and foraging.

This event is a collaboration between Jeanine and Helene, however many local businesses and products are roped in to help deliver a unique lunch – including BCE Catering Equipment, Hunting & Fishing Otaki, KOAST Limoncello, Kapiti Coffee Company, Ohau Wine, Tuatara Brewing and other local characters who are passionate about food.

“I will be creating a menu filled with quality local products along with a couple of unique meat surprises to capture the essence of the land and sea. I am sure the food will inspire and provide food for thought and feed the mind,” says Jeanine.

Helene says, “she loves working with professionals like Jeanine, as she really understands the importance of bringing together people and great food – I have no doubt that she will create a meal to remember and together we will create an all-round experience of Kapiti hospitality – it will be a fun day.”
