Dunedin’s Midwinter Carnival 2016 GOING AHEAD SAT 18 JUNE

The Dunedin Midwinter Carnival 2016 is going ahead on 18th of June as planned beginning in the Octagon at 5:30pm, and the Procession at 6:00pm.

'
This year’s event has taken months of preparation by hundreds of people and we are looking forward to sharing the fantastic work and the beautiful creations and costumes we have made,' said artistic director Juliet Novena Sorrel.

The event will feature 14 giant lanterns, 18 food stalls, 150 performers, 400+ lanterns made by families, and over 1000 people in the Carnival Procession. Over 130 volunteers are involved in event organisation.

The annual event is produced by the Dunedin Midwinter Celebrations Trust.
