Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter Weekly Round-up 13 - 19 June


The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter flew 6 missions and conducted training during the period as follows:

Mon 13 A mid day mission to Raetihi for a local man in his 60’s suffering a serious medical event. The patient was stabilised by the on-board St John Ambulance Intensive Care Para-Medic before being airlifted to Whanganui Hospital in a serious condition.

Tue 14 An afternoon mission to Ohakune for a young local woman suffering an overdose and was flown to Palmerston North Hospital in a critical condition.

Thurs 16 A night mission to Waiouru Military Camp for a man in his 20’s suffering an acute medical condition. The patient was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital in a stable condition for emergency surgery. The mission was flown with the crew using Night Vision Goggles.

Fri 17 An NVG mission to Hunterville for a local woman in her 40’s who had suffered multiple bites when attacked by a dog. She was flown to Palmerston North Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.

Sat 18 A morning mission to Ohakune for a 15 month old baby suffering a serious medical event. The baby and her mother were flown to Palmerston North Hospital. Later in the day the helicopter joined in a Marine Search and Rescue Exercise at Foxton Beach.

Sun 19 A late morning mission to Taihape for a local man in his 30’s suffering a serious medical event. The patient was airlifted to Whanganui Hospital in a serious but stable condition for further treatment.
