The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter flew 6
missions and conducted training during the period as
follows:
Mon 20 A mid day mission to Waiouru for man in his 30’s with a medical emergency. He was stabilised on scene by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Whanganui Hospital.
Tue 21 An afternoon mission to Dannevirke for a teenage girl who suffered back injuries playing netball. She was transported to the Dannevirke Aerodrome by local St John Ambulance and then airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital in a stable condition. The helicopter was then sent to a rural dress near Sanson where a local woman had fallen from her horse suffering serious injuries. The patient was stabilised at the scene by the on-board St John Ambulance Intensive Care Para-Medic before being flown to Palmerston North Hospital in a serious condition. The mission was flown by the crew using night vision goggles.
Wed 22 A morning mission to Otaki for a man in his 20’s injured in a fall from a horse. He was stabilised on scene by St John paramedics and then airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Fri 24 A midnight mission to Ohakune for a man in his 20’s found unconscious in a spa pool. He was stabilised on scene by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Whanganui Hospital in a serious condition. The mission was flown by the crew using night vision goggles.
Sat 25 An afternoon mission to Otaki for a woman in her 30’s with a medical emergency. She was stabilised on scene by St John paramedics and then airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Sun 26 An early morning mission to Pahiatua for a man in his 60’s with a medical emergency. He was stabilised on scene by St John paramedics and then airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital. The mission was flown by the crew using night vision goggles.
