“Dragons” Announced for New Event Competition

The “dragons” are lining up to come to Whanganui to be the judges in the Whanganui “Den of Dragons” public event “We are fortunate to have secured “dragons” of exceptional calibre and I know they are looking forward to being part of the competition and keen to see the ideas presented. The idea is seen as unique for event discovery and development. We currently have 5 entries and I’ve been told of several more to come as the deadline gets closer”

said Lyn Cheyne, Promotion and Marketing Manager of Whanganui and Partners.

The judges are Blair Jagusch, General Manager of Orange Productions, Simon Phillips, Director of Regions, NZ Māori Tourism, Petrina Maxwell, Founder of Agent 86 Events and Kathy Cunningham, Empire PR and Events. Kathy is also a sponsor for Whanganui’s “Den of Dragons” providing PR and mentoring for the winning event. All the judges have significant experience in commercial business and management with high profile clients and event sponsorships and “I’m excited!” commented Blair, “Can’t wait to see what ideas come up and really looking forward to being part of it all. I’m sure I can be a firm but fair dragon!”

Contestants have 10 days left to get their entries in for the deadline of 10 July. Entries can be made via http://whanganuiwhatson.nz/ , asking the contestant to describe their event idea, why they want to make this event happen, how they will manage the event, describe the target audience and how they will promote the event. From these submissions, the best will be selected and those people will be asked to present live to the judges and a public
