Multi-Million Upgrade for Landmark Auckland Hotel Completed

Multi-Million Upgrade for Landmark Auckland Hotel Completed

One of Auckland’s leading five star hotels has completed a multi-million dollar renovation, employing a leading specialist in hospitality design interiors for its refurbished premises.

Internationally renowned architectural firm Chada was commissioned to introduce contemporary design elements to the hotel’s facilities, guest rooms and restaurants to accommodate the increasingly diverse tourism market.

General Manager at Hilton Auckland Roger Brantsma says the year long renovation was completed in time for the hotel’s fifteenth anniversary milestone and was essential to meet the changing needs of tourists visiting this country.

His brief to the design agency was to ensure the sparkling Waitemata Harbour was brought into the interior design detail.

The influence of the surroundings is further evidenced by the sailing design motifs seen in the flotilla of yacht lights on the ceiling, hull shaped reception desk and classical boat deck tiling.

The rooms feature city to harbour views with carpet design illustrating a sand to water inspired journey.

“We’ve achieved a light, airy appeal which shows an understated sophistication, the floor to ceiling windows accentuate the nautically inspired theme which runs throughout the hotel,” says Brantsma.

As well as the natural landscape special attention has been made to include Maori design elements throughout the hotel.

Bellini bar celebrates the elements of earth, wind and fire with hanging fireplaces to create an enveloping warm and sophisticated space with over 100 cocktails on the menu.

The new look Fish restaurant’s design celebrates the luxurious natural timbers and stone married with beautiful modern craftsmanship.

Guests are able to dine in pared-back elegance, with a beautiful ambience offset by its unique location and the sparkling lights of the Auckland Harbour.

The City of Sails concept is further brought to life through the mural by Steven Dews, whose sailing experience fed his passion for this painting. The waves and scenery are quintessentially Auckland with Hilton featured as the heart of the mural.
