“No limits” parking comes into effect
From Monday 1 August, all day parking in metered spaces will come into effect.
Look for the $P All Day signs and park for as long as you like provided you pay.
The Palmerston North City Council is trialling the “no limits” parking initiative until July 2017.
“We’re really looking forward to receiving feedback about the all day parking trial and are confident it’s going to bring more people into the city centre with significant benefits for retailers and other businesses,” says Palmerston North Mayor Grant Smith.
The City Council’s roading team has been working behind the scenes to update the parking system and signage.
“All day parks will be clearly marked with new signage and updated information at the meters,” says PNCC Roading Manager Graeme Tong.
“Payment can be made at the meter using coins, text message or credit card. There will be a choice of up to eight different payment options depending on how long you want to stay. You can also pay using the Frogparking mobile app which allows you to make payments from wherever you are in the city so you don’t have to return to your car.”

Following a highly successful trial earlier in the year, free parking in metered spaces until 11am on Saturday mornings is now permanent.
“We want to make the city inviting and vibrant for both locals and visitors with parking that is as easy as possible,” says the Mayor.
