Kamo
Bypass closed for repairs starting this
weekend
Motorists are advised to plan their
alternative routes and allow extra time for their journeys
when the Kamo Bypass in Whangarei is closed for repairs
starting this weekend.
The repair work will be carried out in stages over the next few weeks and is dependent on dry weather.
The first closure will see the road closed to all public traffic from 4am on Sunday 14 August until 6am Monday 15 August.
There will be three scheduled openings for heavy vehicles.
“The road surface has deteriorated through the winter and we now want to get in there and fix it before it gets worse,” says Brett Gliddon the Transport Agency’s Northland Highway Manager.
“These temporary repairs will see us through until summer when permanent resurfacing of the road can be carried out during the warmer drier summer months to ensure the new seal sticks better to the existing road surface.”
Further closures are planned in two to three weeks’ time to coordinate with other road works in the area and to minimise the impact on customers and residents.
The Transport Agency apologises for any inconvenience caused during these works.
