Rural Hawke’s Bay - most will have power restored today

Rural Hawke’s Bay – Unison expects majority of affected customers to have power restored today

Unison Networks has advised restoring power to customers in rural parts of Hawke’s Bay was making good progress, with most expected to be restored to the distribution network by this evening.

“We’ve been making good progress on site and are hopeful that by this evening about 90 percent of those customers originally affected in Rural Hawke’s Bay will be restored,” said Relationship Manager, Danny Gough.

This would leave about 20 customers still without power, mainly along Waitara Road and the end of SH5, he said.

“We are hoping the majority of those remaining without power will be restored by the end of tomorrow.”

For those few customers who may be without power longer than expected, generators had been offered, and some already delivered, he said.

“We connected a 100kVA network generator out by the Tarawera Café yesterday, and have delivered some portable generators to pockets of isolated customers.

“The weather-bomb certainly took its toll on our network, but our team has worked in tough conditions to carry out necessary repairs so customers could get power again.”
