Bar managers urged to check their paperwork
Dunedin (Monday, 15 August 2016) – Dunedin bar managers are being urged to check their certificate or face bearing the cost of retraining.
The DCC is putting out a call for people who hold a manager’s certificate to check their renewal status, particularly those who know they are due for renewal this year.
Legislation changed in 2013, and for those who held certificates at the time a free bridging test is available online until 2 September 2016.
Alcohol, Psychoactive Substances and Gambling Advisor Kevin Mechen says “Around 200 people in Dunedin may be affected, and there will be people in other parts of the country in the same boat. The DCC is working to remind locals about the renewals.”
A manager’s certificate needs to be renewed every three years, and cannot be renewed without a Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ). Any managers who don’t take up the opportunity for the free bridging test will need to sit a full LCQ at their own cost.
