Lytton Road down to one lane
Lytton Road down to one lane
A section of Lytton Road between Goldsmith and Bulwer Roads will be down to one lane for the next few days as work to repair a sewer pipe is completed.
“A crack in a lateral pipe, that runs from a house into the traffic lane, has caused the road to slump inward,” says water utilities manager Neville West.
“The pipe is laid quite deep at approximately two meters under the ground. We’ll need to dig down and inspect the fault, replace part of the pipe and then reseal the road.”
Traffic will still be able to flow in both directions, but there will be some delays and a reduced speed limit.
“We ask drivers to please be patient and take care while the work is underway.
“If you can, plan for delays or take an alternative route.”
Residents will still be able to access properties and contractors are mindful of reducing any impacts on neighbours.
Work will begin Thursday 25 August and is expected to be finished by Tuesday 30 August.
Mr West says while there won’t be work on site over the weekend, traffic management will still be in place.
The repair and upgrades to Council’s sewer network are a part of a larger programme of work to reduce rainwater infiltration into the system and wastewater overflows.
