Armourguard the new guard for Council services

Kaipara District Council has changed its supplier to monitor dog and stock, noise and parking regulations. A unique joint tender arrangement with Whangarei District Council took place earlier this year and through this process Armourguard were awarded the contract, taking over from Monday 12 September.

“We are looking forward to a positive and productive working relationship with Armourguard. They have brought a different approach to working together as a partnership and are very much aligned with our philosophy of being customer-focused and making it easier,” General Manager Planning and Regulatory Fran Mikulicic says.

“While our supplier is changing, for the customer, there will be change for the good. Contact phone numbers and locations remain the same, and we will continue to use the Whangarei dog pound for stray dogs. One of the differences will be the Armourguard vehicles and staff, which will soon become a common sight around the district,” Ms Mikulicic says.

Dog re-homing will also continue, she says.

“Armourguard is very keen to see dogs that have been abandoned by their owners find new forever homes where possible.”

Armourguard’s Whangarei manager Warwick Taylor says the company’s longstanding presence in Northland means it has been able to hit the ground running on the Whangarei and Kaipara District Councils’ contracts: “We have been providing a wide range of security services in Northland for more than 25 years so we know the community, its businesses and its people very well,” he says.

Mr Taylor added that he and his team were pleased to be working with the local pound and SPCA to re-home dogs. “Our people love helping to achieve such positive outcomes for the dogs and their new owners,” he says.

Involvement in the dog rehoming programme is one of several new initiatives that Armourguard will be rolling out over the coming months.
