Council action taken following cloudy water

Council action taken following cloudy water

Christchurch City Council is investigating why water in some parts of the north west of the city is coming out of the tap cloudy.

The Council has received number of calls from the public this morning about the quality of the water, mainly in the Avonhead- Russley area.

The water is in the process of being tested and the network is also being flushed. The pump station which is believed to be the cause of the discolouration has been shut down.

We are hoping to get to the bottom of it very quickly but in the meantime if people have any concerns they should, as a precaution, boil the water before drinking it or use bottled water.

We will keep residents updated as we receive information.
