Creative HQ wins big programmes

Creative HQ’s latest success is further proof that Wellington is one of the places in the world to be when it comes to technology start-ups, says Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive John Milford.

“Winning two of three new Government accelerator programmes for tech-based start-ups is a fantastic result, and shows that having the right people in the right place will eventually pay off.

“Wellington’s sector is ideally set up for these programmes, being aimed at the next generation of high-tech start-ups in financial technology and energy. Having a mix of Kiwibank, Xero, Callaghan Innovation and Creative HQ involved in the FinTech accelerator is perfect, with all that expertise already here.

“The other good news is that the third accelerator, digital technology, will also be run out of Wellington, by Icehouse. So they’re even getting Auckland-based firms to do that stuff down here, which goes to show just what we have here and how valuable it is.

“Congratulations to Creative HQ, and we look forward to more news like this.”
