Mapua residents asked to conserve water

Mapua residents asked to conserve water

Mapua residents and businesses have been asked to conserve water. A problem with the main water pipe from the Richmond Water Treatment Plant has been picked up in the regular monitoring of the system.

While the location of the problem has been identified it will be tomorrow before the engineers are able to reach the site due to the incoming tide.

The Council’s engineers are confident there is enough water in the system to provide residents and businesses until a long term solution is identified in the next week.

However, as a precautionary step all users are being asked to make every effort should be made to conserve water as only a limited amount is available and the system is not capable in its current state to withstand heavy demand.

We will provide an update tomorrow.

If residents have any concerns they should ring the Council on 03 5438400.
