Car Rolls Off Kawhia Road
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a car crash on Kawhia road this morning. A car crashed off the road through a fence and rolled multiple times down a very steep bank coming to rest on its wheels approximately 100m below the road in a farm paddock. The 55yr old local male driver suffered injuries to his leg and hip and was able to reveal his tale to the rescue team this morning. He mentioned loosing control about11pm due to aquaplaning on road surface water and that initially he attempted to make his way back up to the road but with his injuries and the wet steep terrain he got back into the car to wait out the night. Apparently his dog assisted in raising the alarm at a nearby residence this morning.
