Visit to Wellington by earthquake response naval task group

Media are advised that the earthquake response naval task group will anchor in Wellington Harbour tomorrow. HMNZS Canterbury remains on task taking evacuees from Kaikoura to Lyttelton.

The frigate HMNZS Te Kaha and tanker HMNZS Endeavour will be accompanied by the USS Sampson, HMAS Darwin and HMCS Vancouver.

The vessels will enter the harbour around 8am and are expected to be at anchor around 9am. They will not be berthing, but will receive VIP visitors via helicopter and/or boats.

The task group is expected to depart for Auckland during the afternoon.
