The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter flew 10 missions and conducted crew training during the period. The missions are as follows:
Tue 15 An afternoon mission to Hawera for a man in his 40’s with a medical emergency. He was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital in a serious condition.
Sat 19 An afternoon mission to a motorbike accident on the Napier/Taihape Road near Moawhango. A man in his 50’s sustained leg injuries after he came off his bike and slid into a farm fence. He was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Sun 20 A morning mission to Pahiatua for a man in his 50’s with a medical emergency. He was Airlifted to Palmerston North hospital. Later that evening the helicopter was sent Levin for a Motor Vehicle Accident. The patient, a teenage girl, was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Mon 21 A morning mission to Taihape for a woman in her 60’s with a medical emergency. She was airlifted to Whanganui Hospital.
Wed 23 An early morning mission to Raetihi for a woman in her 40’s with a medical emergency. She was airlifted to Whanganui hospital. The mission was completed with the aid of Night Vision Goggles. Later that afternoon the helicopter dispatched by the Police to the Ruahine Ranges where a woman in her 50’s was injured and unable to walk out. She was located by the helicopter with the assistance of a Police Search and Rescue member and then assessed by a St John paramedic before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Thu 24 An afternoon mission to a property near Apiti for a woman in her 60’s injured in a fall. She was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Fri 25 A morning mission to Taihape for a teenage boy with a medical emergency. He was airlifted to Whanganui Hospital.
Sat 26 An evening mission to a Motor Vehicle Accident near Waimarama involving two vehicles. Local Fire brigades were on scene to assist with the extraction of patients who were stabilised by St John paramedics. The helicopter then transported a man in his 20’s with abdominal injuries to Hastings Hospital. The Hawkes Bay Rescue Helicopter also attended the scene.
