Fresh chance to show your love for your community and stand for the Howick Local Board
Interested in representing your community and influencing decisions that affect your local community and make Auckland a great place to live?
Nominations for candidates opened on 24 November seeking to fill the vacant position to be the third representative for the Botany subdivision on the nine-member Howick Local Board.
“If you think you have useful skills and ideas to make a contribution to your local community and can represent the needs and wants of approximately 37,000 eligible voters, now is your chance,” says Auckland Council Electoral Officer Dale Ofsoske.
To date nominations have been received from Mark Johnson (Labour) and Mike Turinsky (Practical Not Political).
The by-election follows the resignation of Lucy Schwaner less than a month after the local body elections and is expected to cost more than $100,000.
If you are interested in putting your name in the ring as a candidate you need to be:
• Over the age of 18
• A New Zealand citizen registered on the electoral roll
• Have two electors enrolled in the Botany subdivision nominate you.
• Get your nomination in by noon on Thursday 22 December.
Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 GST inclusive.
