Kaz has hit the Cape!
Otago Polytechnic student, Kazushi (Kaz) Noiri is about to complete his 2244km walk from Bluff to Cape Reinga.
The 29 year-old nursing student arrives at the tip of the North Island today after 66 days on the road. He has walked 4,488,400 steps and raised more than $5000 ($5268.45 as of midday today) for Arthritis New Zealand along the way.
“I'm currently a volunteer for an aged care organisation and I understand how hard everyday life can be with arthritis,” says Kaz, who is originally from Japan. “The more people know about Arthritis New Zealand, the greater their impact.”
There are more than 140 different types of arthritis, and 620,000 New Zealanders have a diagnosis of the chronic condition – including 1000 children.
Unfortunately, with all the wonders of modern technology, there’s no reception in Cape Reinga, so Kaz isn’t contactable just at the moment!
Kaz arrives back at Dunedin airport on Monday 19 December at 2pm. His Otago Polytechnic supporters will be there with bells on (figuratively) and banners (literally) to welcome him home.
