Pest attracting trees to be removed

Pest attracting trees to be removed

Three phoenix palms along Crawford Road are set to be removed today (Wednesday 21) as part of the Inner Harbour upgrade project.

The palm trees which are situated next to The Works restaurant and bar, have been causing concerns for local food establishments for some time.

Mayor, Meng Foon says, “We’ve received a lot of complaints about pests and hazardous branches from these trees from businesses nearby.”

Removal of the trees will make space for future parking and a walkway connection to Titirangi (Kaiti Hill), with plans to replace current trees with natives throughout the Inner harbour precinct.

Traffic management will be in place while contractors are removing the trees, so please be patient if you are travelling in that area of the inner harbour.

If the weather stays fine, removal work will be complete on the same day.
