Show us your Rotorua and win!
A $200 voucher and a
class trip are up for grabs for locals who enter the Vision
2030 - The
Rotorua Way Photo Competition.
The competition which opens on Monday (27 February) is a fun, easy way for the community to show what they consider to be special and unique about Rotorua as part of Rotorua Lakes Council’s consultation on the district’s 2030 vision refresh.
Entrants will be in to win some great prizes and the competition is open to people of all ages with five categories including a special schools category for classrooms keen to get involved and win a class trip. There is also a People’s Choice category which the public will be able to vote on once the category winners have been decided.
Winners of each category will receive a $200 voucher for a Rotorua-based activity, experience or eatery of their choice and the classroom category winner will enjoy a day out for the whole class to the Redwoods Treewalk* and the Rotorua Aquatic Centre.
Photos will be judged on creativity and how well they reflect the theme of Vision 2030 - The Rotorua Way. The competition is not about taking technically perfect photos – it’s about how the community sees Rotorua and what is important to them.
The competition will run for one month and photos can be submitted until 5pm on Monday 27 March. Winners will be announced 30 March via Council’s website and Facebook page.
How to enter:
Photos must be submitted online by uploading the images to rotorualakescouncil.nz/ along with a brief explanation about the photo and why it represents The Rotorua Way.
To enter submitters must register for council’s new online hub Let’s Talk – Kōrero Mai. All entrants under 18 must have the permission of a parent or guardian.
Images must be 300dpi and no larger than 10MB .
The Rotorua Way
Rotorua 2030 identified a future vision and set of priorities out to 2016. These priorities focused on immediate issues for the district. It’s now time to review the long-term vision and ensure the district continues to progress and identifying Rotorua’s strengths and opportunities that will help build on those will be key.
This will provide the direction and focus for Council for the next few years, assisting with planning and decision-making.
Go to Rotorua Lakes Council’s new online hub, Let’s Talk – Kōrero Mai, to find out all about Vision 2030 – The Rotorua Way, the photo competition and other ways to have input into our district’s ongoing progress.
