The Coromandel is Open for Business
Holiday makers can return to Hauraki and Thames Coromandel districts after cyclone Cook passed the east of the Coromandel Peninsula without making landfall.
The Thames Coromandel District is no longer under a state of emergency. However the Thames Coast Road remains closed. Authorities would like to remind people to drive to the conditions with some highways still being cleared of slips and surface flooding.
“The Coromandel is open for business,” says Civil Defence Controller, Garry Towler. This news will be welcomed by tourism businesses throughout the region who have already put out the welcome mats and updated their networks.
Hot Water Beach Top 10 Holiday Park owner Sheree Webster is looking forward to welcoming guests keen to enjoy a natural hot spa “It’s lovely here today. There’s a lingering swell for surfers, we’re open for business.”
Destination Coromandel, The Coromandel tourism marketing agency, has resumed promotion encouraging people to enjoy a good for your soul holiday.
