Palmerston North World Record Claim Accepted
World Record Claim Accepted
Hundreds of Palmerstonians can now call themselves World Record Holders.
The Guinness Book of Records has accepted Palmerston North City’s World Record claim for the Largest Rugby Scrum.
1757 people packed down for the scrum on 29 June at
Palmerston North Boy’s High School grounds as part of the
City’s Winter Festival.
Ian Littleworth, PNCC Community Engagement Manager says he is delighted to have received the official acceptance today.
“It was quite a mission to get the scrum attempt ‘over the line’ because of all the documentation, planning and recording that is required to make a record claim. It is fantastic news for everyone who took part in the scrum and the organisation of the event. We really appreciate all of their efforts. Perhaps Palmerston North can now really call itself the home of New Zealand rugby?
“This record acceptance adds to the overall success of this year’s Winter Festival.”
