Porirua Mayor congratulates
winning builders in House of the Year 2017 regional
awards
Porirua Mayor Mike Tana has congratulated the five Porirua building companies named as winners at the Wellington and Wairarapa House of the Year 2017 awards over the weekend.
“I was really proud to be at the event with the builders and to be able to celebrate their success. It’s great to see not only local builders, but Porirua houses, recognised as among the best in the region. It’s a testament to the strength and quality of our building industry that so many local builders were among the regional winners.”
“We have a number of housing developments underway in the city, and homes from Aotea and Whitby were among those praised by the judges at the awards.”
The number of houses being built in Porirua has steadily increased in recent years and is projected to jump by 6 to 8 percent in the coming financial year. That is being driven in part by a new 800 home development, Kenepuru Landing, that will feature a range of medium density, mixed priced, housing.
"It just shows that Porirua is offering not only
affordable housing and a great lifestyle - but top quality
housing too. One of our city’s key strategic focuses is on
a growing, prosperous and regionally connected city and top
quality residential development is a big part of that
picture,” said Mayor Tana.
