During its 50th anniversary celebrations, The Keep New Zealand Beautiful Society, Inc. (KNZB) has announced that Alexandra Davids has been named the organisation’s new Chairperson.
Heather Saunderson, CEO of KNZB says “Alexandra has a deep understanding of the environmental challenges we face in New Zealand as well as in a global context. She has spent her career as an agent of change, team builder and she cares deeply about community. Alex has varied leadership experience in the areas of youth engagement, environmental education, volunteerism, and local government.”
Alexandra has from a young age been
extensively involved in both charity and volunteer work.
Alex serves as a Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board
member in Christchurch, Chairperson of Keep Christchurch
Beautiful, elected as the Zone 5 representative for the
National Young Elected Members Board, is a Board of Trustees
member for The Graeme Dingle Foundation and works for
Women’s Refuge. Alexandra is passionate about making both
her home city of Christchurch and New Zealand as a whole a
better, and more sustainable place to live.

diversity the communities we serve and the support that we
provide to the tens of thousands of volunteers that work
with us to empower and enrich our communities. I am honoured
to have been chosen to lead this iconic organisation into
its next phase of revitilisation and strategic
growth.”
Councillor Victoria Kaye-Simmons has been elected to serve as the organisation’s Deputy Chairperson. “Victoria’s experience along with her personal values and compassion, will advance our efforts to deliver lasting environmental impact across New Zealand,” says John Riddell, Immediate Past Chairman of KNZB.
Councillor
Kaye-Simmons is a wife, mother, small business owner and a
third term district councillor in the Horowhenua. She has
numerous important roles in the community, serving as the
Creative Communities Chair, Keep Levin Beautiful Chair,
Horowhenua Family Violence Intervention Program Chair,
Board/Committee member of Lake Accord, Horowhenua Lake
Domain Board member, Thompson House Executive, Community
Wellbeing, Waitangi Day (iwi), Levin Budget Service, Youth
Scholarship and Civic Honour Judging Panel.
In addition
to the appointment of Ms Davids as Chair, and Councillor
Kaye-Simmons as Deputy Chair, the following board members
were announced at the AGM held in Hastings:
