Woman Injured While Tramping
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on Tuesday 30 January to a 71-year-old female who had slipped on rocks while tramping near Ngamuwahine Camp.
The woman was extracted from her location via the Port Of Tauranga Rescue Winch. She had suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured elbow and was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital for treatment.
Early that day, the rescue helicopter had been tasked to transport a 30-year-old male from Tauranga Hospital, who had suffered a serious injury to his hand. He was flown to Waikato Hospital for special treatment.
Philips Search and Rescue Trust (PSRT) is a charitable organisation, operating rescue helicopters throughout the Central North Island. Philips Search and Rescue Trust relies on support from principal sponsors and community donations. Special thanks to Tauranga’s principal sponsor’s, Trustpower and TECT. This crucial financial support ensures our rescue helicopters can continue to bring life-saving equipment, rescue personnel and trauma-trained medics directly to the patient.
