QLDC lifts water restrictions

QLDC lifts water restrictions

7 February 2018. For immediate release

QLDC has today removed water restrictions that have been in place throughout the Queenstown Lakes District.

QLDC Chief Engineer Ulrich Glasner said that based on recent rainfalls and with more rain predicted next week it was now appropriate to lift the restrictions.

“The public has been great at conserving water during the recent dry period. This reduced demand coupled with a break in the hot, dry weather means that we are now able to remove the water restrictions,” said Mr Glasner.

Whilst a general request to conserve water was made district-wide, water restrictions were applied specifically in Arrowtown, Arthurs Point, Lake Hayes Estate and Lower Shotover.

With summer not yet over, QLDC has again asked that the community is mindful of water use, and continues to conserve water where possible.

Recommendations for ways to conserve water are available at the QLDC website.
