ATEED don’t need a $3.2 million office fit-out

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Auckland Ratepayers Alliance says that ATEED’s planned $3.2 million fit-out of their new office offers terrible value for money and shows Mayor Phil Goff is failing to curb the Council’s wasteful spending habits.
Ratepayers’ Alliance spokesperson Jo Holmes says, “Mayor Phil Goff has made all the right noises about cutting fat at ATEED, but here is a clear opportunity for him to walk the walk.”
“Why does ATEED even need to move down to the waterfront – into one of the most expensive office buildings in the country? Vodafone moved out of this building to save money, now ATEED is moving in!”
“The Mayor should direct ATEED to find a more modest option for their new office – preferably a new location entirely where they can save on both fit-out costs and rent.”
“ATEED doesn’t need to co-locate with multinational corporates. It’s a public agency that is meant to serve the ratepayer – and that means spending modestly.”
