Have your say on America’s Cup base plan
30 April 2018
The resource consent application for building the infrastructure to host America’s Cup 36 in Auckland has been publicly notified and is open for submissions.
From today, Aucklanders can provide their feedback on the proposed Wynyard-Hobson plan, agreed to by Auckland Council, Government and Emirates Team New Zealand in March.
A submission period is open for the next 20 working days, from 30 April to 28 May 2018.
Anyone can make a submission and Auckland Council is encouraging all Aucklanders to have their say on this new application, whether they have submitted on previous America’s Cup proposals or not.
The America's Cup notified resource consent application is available to view on the Auckland Council website.
Panuku Development Auckland lodged the resource consent application with Auckland Council to build the America’s Cup bases at the Wynyard-Hobson location.
This involves up to five bases on the eastern side of Wynyard Point, a 74 metre length extension of Hobson Wharf to accommodate one double base extension, and use of the Viaduct Events Centre on Halsey Wharf by Emirates Team New Zealand as their base.
Following the submission period the application will be a direct referral to the Environment Court with a decision expected from the Court in October 2018.
A further resource consent application for the relocation of SeaLink and the commercial fishing fleet will be made once on-going investigations on alternative location options are completed.
