Chief Executive’s contract renewed
Dunedin (Tuesday, 29 May 2018) – Mayor of Dunedin Dave Cull is pleased to announce that DCC Chief Executive Sue Bidrose’s contract has been renewed for a further two years.
Dr Bidrose was appointed as Chief Executive of the DCC in 2013.
The Local Government Act requires local government chief executives be on five-year fixed term contracts. There is provision for the incumbent to be given a two-year renewal, otherwise the position is re-advertised for a new five-year contract.
Mr Cull says that Dr Bidrose indicated she would be happy to accept a two-year renewal, which the CEO Performance Appraisal Committee recommended Council agree to offer. The Council unanimously approved this at its meeting this afternoon.
“Dr Bidrose has made a significant contribution during her time at the DCC. The Council, and indeed the Dunedin community, is fortunate to have a chief executive of her calibre,” he says.
“I’m delighted that Dr Bidrose has opted to extend her contract; it will help ensure continuity for major projects and strategies already underway, and in delivering on the Council’s bold vision for the city over the coming years.”
Dr Bidrose says she is pleased to be offered a two-year extension.
“My heart is in Dunedin, and I love having a job that gives me the opportunity to contribute to making it an even greater small city,” she says.
The renewal means that Dr Bidrose’s contract is extended until 22 November 2020.
