Airport welcomes for rugby teams
Dunedin (Tuesday, 12 June 2018) – Dunedin residents are being urged to provide a warm welcome for the All Blacks and France when they arrive in the city for their 23 June test match clash.
The All Blacks arrive at 5.30pm on Sunday, 17 June at the Dunedin International Airport, with the team from France arriving at 6.45pm on Thursday, 21 June.
The Dunedin City Council is encouraging fans to get dressed up and head out to the airport to welcome both teams.
The King’s and Queen’s High Schools’ Kapa Haka group, He Waka Kōtuia, will welcome the teams and then the City of Dunedin Pipe Band will pipe them through the terminal.
Mayor of Dunedin Dave Cull says, “Traditionally, a clash between the grit of the All Blacks and the fervour of the French is a highlight on the test match calendar.
“We’re looking forward to hosting many keen rugby followers, from around the region and further afield, for this very exciting match.”
